About Our Dojo

The Indianapolis Budokan (martial arts hall) is located on the
northeast side of Indianapolis and offers ongoing instruction
in the traditional martial and cultural arts of Japan.

We currently train in the gym at
Northeastwood Christian
Church on Sundays from 4-6pm.

The head instructor of the dojo is Mr. Andrew Bryant, who
has been studying the traditional Japanese martial arts for
over 14 years.  He holds the rank of Nidan (2nd Degree black
belt) in Iaido, the instructor license of Fuku-shidoin, and is a
full member of the Shudokan Martial Arts Association.

The Indianapolis Budokan is a traditional dojo, therefore,
there are no contracts. Tuition is $40 monthly, paid on the
first class of each month. Students receive a discount, though
we don't normally accept students under the age of 16.

No sharp swords (shinken) are allowed in class, unless
tameshigiri is planned, or approved by the instructor. The
instructor must inspect and approve all swords used.
Japanese made iaito (blunt swords) and bukuto (wooden
swords) are recommended.

Training weapons are available at the dojo. All that is
required is loose fitting clothing. Standard training uniform
consists of white keikogi (karate, Judo, Kendo style, etc.),
black hakama (pleated trousers) and dark obi (belt). Please
see the instructor for more information.

Please feel free to email us if you have any questions, or
would like to visit the dojo and observe class.
Email us for
more information on specific directions and class times, as
they may vary.
